Nice overview of the fundamentals of foreign exchange risk management. Good idea to illustrate how a real company (Apple) applies some of the concepts discussed in the training program. I also liked how you used the F/X risk policy drafter to illustrate the essential components of a f/x risk management policy.
The material is a good reflection of the current state of foreign exchange risk management. After completing these courses the student should have a good understanding of: the nature of foreign exchange risk, the instruments available for hedging foreign exchange risk, the ways they can be used to manage foreign exchange risk and the accounting consequences of employing hedges.
Well done. A concise review of F/X risk exposures. I like how you used Apple's financial statements in your explanation of transaction and translation risk. I also liked how you integrated the foreign exchange transaction simulator and foreign exchange subsidiary consolidator tools into the course.
Good overview of currency forwards, options, and collars.
I would recommend these courses to anyone who might need a good overview of foreign exchange risk exposure, hedging instruments and risk management.
I completed the six courses. Overall I was very impressed with their design and content. I especially liked how you used Apple's financial statements to illustrate many of the key concepts. Also your use of the tools on your website (policy drafter, f/x derivative speculator, etc.) helped to illustrate many of the concepts related to policy development, valuation, and accounting.
I enjoyed the course. Did a good job of explaining the benefits of using elective hedge accounting treatment vs default accounting for forecasted and booked f/x transactions.
Good overview of hedging the earnings and net investment of foreign subs. I liked how you used Apple to demonstrate net investment hedges and how you used your foreign exchange subsidiary consolidator tool.
